Yesterday we had a birthday party for Maycee and she had so much fun. I was so excited to see her dig into some cake because she LOVES to eat. She definitely didn't disappoint. Once she got a tiny taste, she tried to stick her whole face in. I loved every second of her party. She got so many nice gifts and got to spend time with the people who love her most. She pulled strings out of her first pinata, watched her sisters open her presents while she played with paper and bows, and looked at us like we were crazy when we were all singing to her. She was exhausted by the end and took a nice long nap after. When she woke up she played and played with all of her new stuff.
Me and Grandma Becky made these owls out of Lindor chocolate balls and fondant. Not bad for amateurs!
This was her cake before....
Wow, she made a mess. Daddy had to take the high chair outside and hose it down. He actually joked about junking it and buying a new one since it was such a mess. There is cake all over our lawn where he cleaned it.
Maycee had to have 2 baths to get clean. Hee Hee. Just what I was hoping for.
I can't believe how fast this year has gone. I can truly say I've enjoyed EVERY second of being Maycee's mom. She just has the happiest demeanor, which started immediately. Her daddy didn't hear her cry for at least the first two weeks after she was born. You only have to look at her to get her to smile, and she lights up the whole room when she does. She's very giggly, and playful, and curious. She's happy to play by herself, or be played with. She goes with the flow, whatever it may be that day. She loves her older sisters, and they love to make her laugh. It's the highlight of each day, when all 3 of them laugh and laugh together. I love watching her do new things all the time, and her personality comes out more and more each day. She says mama and dada, sings la la la with me, and she knows what a snake and a lion say. She still just has 6 teeth, but a molar is about to poke through as well as possibly an I-tooth. She's drinking milk out of a sippy for all but 2 feedings a day and doing great with it. I'm sad to wean her, but I can't nurse her forever. She is mostly just eating what we eat now, with an occasional substitution of baby food. She isn't walking yet, when I try to walk with her she does it for a minute and then just gets down and crawls. I guess it's faster and she likes it that way. She can walk while holding on to things though, and can stand for a few seconds without holding on and then chickens out and sits down.
When we decided to add one last final addition to our family, I never could have dreamed of a more perfect little person. She's unbelievably beautiful, inside and out.
Happy birthday to my Pretty Princess, Maycee. Mommy and daddy love you more than words could ever express!!
